Pet Canary

The canary is also known as the common canary, atlantic canary or the island canary. The canary bird is names after the Canary Islands, after the Latin name canariae insulae, meaning “island of dogs.” This was termed by Arnobius of Sicca, who was an early Christian apologist, as the inhabitants of these islands use to have large dogs. The yellow canary colour is named after the domestic bred canary.
